Tour Overview

Jomsom Muktinath trek is one of the easy and beautiful treks in the Annapurna region. The journey to Jomsom Muktinath kicks off with a one-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and makes the relatively little uphill climb to Tikhedhunga (1540m) and walk to Ghorepani. We wake up early in the morning at Ghorepani and hike to Poon Hill (3210 m), the best viewpoint to see the sunrise. Besides, from Poon Hill, we also enjoy the wonderful view of mountains that include Mt. Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhapure (fishtail), Lamjung Himal and another beautiful peak.

From Ghorepani, we trail to Tatopani (Natural hot spring) and take a natural hot spring bath. Next day morning, our walk continues through Ghasa making a steep climb through a forest until we reach Lete. From Lete, our walk continues to the east side of the Kaligandaki river valley and reach Larjung Village for an overnight stay. After breakfast, the trek begins crossing the trail through Tukche village and apple farm projects until arrival at Marpha Village. This village is inhabited by Thakali, one of the ethnic groups of people of the country. Here you will have an opportunity to observe plenty of birds.

The trail continues along the Kali Gandaki valley, crosses over a low ridge and finally reaches Jomsom Village. Kali Gandaki Valley is the world’s the deepest gorge and your walking trail emerges into the wide valley of Jomsom. At the lower altitude we find rhododendron forests but at the higher altitude, the landscape is dramatically changed into the arid desert-like plateau similar to Tibet.

From Jomsom, walking 3 hours we reach the beautiful Kali Gandaki along Ekley- Bhatti Village. After having a good rest you make an hour long easy walk to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of 2 rivers. Kagbeni is a motivating inhospitable village settled on the most age recent Trans Himalayan salt trade route to Asian country via higher pony space.

Jomsom Muktinath is famous for holy site, The temple of Muktinath (3,800 m) with 108 waterspouts flowing holy water from taps and mysterious natural gas fires that surprises every visitor. This temple is very much sacred to both Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrims coming from different parts of India and Nepal. After visiting Muktinath Temple you will trek back to Jomsom following the same trail enjoying the beauty of the Dhaulagiri Glacier gleaming to the north.
