Tour Overview

Island Peak (6,189m), one of the popular trekking destination known as Imja Tse situated in the Khumbu region of Nepal. In 1951, Eric Shipton’s party named this peak as Island Peak as when we view from Dingboche, this peaks seems like an island in a sea of ice. It is actually an extension of rim coming down off the south end of Lhotse Shar. It was in 1956 when Swiss team first climb Island peak then the peak gained popularity and since then it has been used as the trekking peak.

Adventure and challenge lover can find it to be the best trekking peak. The Island Peak Climbing trail begins from Lukla that passes through many beautiful Sherpa villages where we can view many spectacular mountains of this region. We can experience Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse middle peak (8,410m) and Lhotse (8,501m) that makes a semi-circle in the north while Makalu (8,475m) in the east and Ama Dablam and Baruntse in the south. This area surrounded by mountains all over makes one feel like they are standing out of the world. During the trek, we can also visit Sagarmatha National Park which is UNESCO World Heritage Site and the home of exotic Himalayan wildlife such as Himalayan Thar, Red Panda, Musk deer, colorful Pheasants, and Snow Leopard. We come across greenery forest of Pine, birch tree and Rhododendrons hanging onto stone cold cliff which makes the forest more beautiful and attractive. This region is the inhabitants of mainly Buddhist so you will get the chance to experience many monasteries scattered here. A great Eco destination with wildlife and natural beauties, Island Peak Climbing is one of the most extraordinary climbing experience in the world.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel
  • Day 02:  Trek Preparation and Kathmandu city tour
  • Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2840m) and trek to Phakding (2610m) 3-4 hours
  • Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar (3340m)
  • Day 05: Acclimatization day
  • Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazar to Tingboche (3860m) 6-7 hours
  • Day 07: Trek from Tingboche to Dingboche (4110m) 5-6 hours
  • Day 08: Trek from Dingboche to Chhukung (4730m) 3-4 hours
  • Day 09: Trek from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp (5200m) 3-4 hours
  • Day 10: Trek from Island Peak Base Camp to Island Peak High Camp (5600m)  3-4 hours
  • Day 11: Trek from Island Peak High Camp to Island Peak Summit (6189m) and back to Chhuksung 8-9 hours
  • Day 12: Trek from Chhukung to Khumjung (3780m) 5-6 hours
  • Day 13: Trek from Khumjung to Namche Bazar 4-5 hours
  • Day 14: Trek from Namche Bazar to Lukla 5-6 hours
  • Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu, pick up and transfer to the hotel
  • Day 16: Final Departure
